«Through the partnership with ESC-20 and WGU Texas, we are able to increase high-quality educational opportunities for our employees,» said Athlos Leadership Academy Principal Hector Gomez. «Scholarships like the one presented today are a prime example of how we can encourage educational advancement and pay tribute to our teachers. I am proud of Breanna and what she has been able to achieve.»

WGU Texas and ESC-20 established a strategic partnership in 2016 with the goal of providing pathways to high-quality educational opportunities that support educators and address the statewide teacher shortage.

«I am grateful to receive the ESC-20 Teacher Appreciation scholarship,» said Breanna Longbrake. «This scholarship will go a long way in helping me finish my degree at WGU Texas.» Breanna is a high school math teacher at Athlos Leadership Academy, a charter school in the ESC-20 region. She is attending WGU Texas pursuing her Master’s in Teaching, Mathematics.

«The corporate partnership we have established with ESC-20 demonstrates a strong commitment and focus on education,» said WGU Texas Chancellor Veronica Vargas Stidvent. «Texas teachers are the real heroes in their communities, and we were happy to play a part in this scholarship award.»
